United Democratic Alliance (UDA) offices in Wote, Makueni County are on fire.
The precincts have been torched by protesters who took to the streets to demonstrate over the surge in fuel prices.
Videos that surfaced online on Monday, May 18, showed sparks of fire and smoke engulfing the visibly newly-painted and branded building. The protesters ignited the fire outside the office before it spread to burn a section of the building.
The rowdy protesters chanting 'wantam' slogans smashed window panes and broke some doors. It is not clear whether the protesters made off with any valuables, as the office appeared to have been ransacked. The inferno was contained before it could raze the premises. No arrests have been made, but police officers have vowed to take action against perpetrators.
