There was melee between the police and irate residents of Kutus Town, Kirinyaga County the the better part Friday morning (yesterday) as the angry residents demanded justice after a man allegedly severed another man's genitals over a Ksh 50 debt. Business in the area was at standstill as police engaged enraged locals in running battles.
The incident happened in Mjini Kutus at the former Kenya Post and Telecommunication Corporation (KPTC) precincts near the traders market.

The victim, identified as Muthii who is currently battling for his life at Kerugoya Referral Hospital after he reportedly had an altercation with a local fishmonger by name Isaac (Izoh) over the unpaid amount on Thursday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, the businessman declined to pay the victim his debt but rather dragged him into his shop during the altercation and proceeded to mutilate him using a knife.
Anthony Njora, a local resident, recounted how Muthii staggered to his workplace, bleeding profusely and writhing in deep pain as blood oozed from his severed private parts before collapsing.
His employer quickly advised the victim he be taken to the nearest dispensary for first aid and proceeded on with his fish selling business. He was later referred to Kerugoya Referral Hospital in critical condition, where he is now fighting for his life.
When the victim realised the members of public was cognizant about his actions he went into hiding to evade the wrath of the irate locals.
The shocking incident sparked outrage among residents, who threatened to take matters into their own hands if the suspect was not arrested. The escalating tension forced police officers to fire in the air to disperse the angry crowd.
The culprit's fish selling 'kibanda' was demolished and brought down by the irate residents who were baying for his blood.
Information reaching Morgan Media is that Muthii is responding to treatment and not dead as alleged on Facebook comments section.
Authorities have since launched an investigation into the matter.
