Kenya Power is in mourning following the tragic death of security guard Fred Wamale Wanyonyi attached to Hatari Security, who was shot dead during ongoing protests in Nairobi while on duty.
The management of Stima Plaza has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and confirmed that they are cooperating with investigative authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
Kenya Power issued a statement on the guard's untimely death while on his designated assignment area.
"STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF STIMA PLAZA SECURITY GUARD ON DUTY DURING PROTESTS
Nairobi, Wednesday, 25th June, 2025...We are deeply saddened to report that Mr. Fred Wamale Wanyonyl, a security guard stationed at our Stima Plaza headquarters, was fatally shot at the entrance of the building at 4:30 pm this evening during the ongoing protests.
Mr. Wamale, an employee of Hatari Security, was on duty at the Kolobot Road entrance when the incident occurred. He was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
We regret the unfortunate death of Mr. Wamale and are working with the relevant Investigative organs to unearth the circumstances under which the incident occurred.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time."
