During the 2022 campaign, then Deputy President William Ruto heavily criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration for rising fuel prices, accusing it of incompetence and harboring corruption cartels that were hurting consumers. Ruto pledged that if elected, he would reduce the cost of fuel by addressing these cartels and removing unsustainable subsidies.
He criticized the then President Kenyatta for hiking fuel prices over the Russia–Ukraine war............
Now the same has happened in his tenure.
