The Maumau Original Trust Kirinyaga County has highly condemned the brutal killing of Kenyan gospel singer Rachel Wandeto which has sparked widespread national outrage and condemnation from top political leaders, human rights organizations, and the general public.
While speaking to Morgan Media Tv on press briefing through their Chairman Mr. Jamleck Kamau, the organization disclosed Wandeto was a staunch member and ambassador of the Maumau Original Trust organization having accomplished all rites of membership. The organization however vehemently condemns the macabre murder of one of their member calling on the government to expedite investigations and bring the perpetrators to book.

Wandeto was ambushed by masked men in Mwiki, Kasarani. The assailants questioned her about her public political alignment and her tattoo of President William Ruto, accusing her of "eating government money alone". Later they her doused her in petrol and set her ablaze, inflicting severe burns covering roughly 70% to 75% of her body. She was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital where after fighting for her life she tragically succumbed to injuries on Monday, May 18, 2026.
